By the end of the week, we found that the puppy that might have been ours, had gone to another home. Not in any kind of thoughtful, well-researched way but instead on impulse.
On last Sunday morning and the day that we were to meet the dog, the owner took the dog for a walk. On the walk, she crossed paths with a young woman who oohed and ahhed over the puppy. Like people do. The owner promptly sold her the dog on the spot. No questions asked.
She also didn't call us that day or all week long to tell us- nor did she return repeated phone messages. My daughter found out through an acquittance what had happened.
I hope that the puppy has found a wonderful, loving forever home- even if it's not ours.
